What : Project Prepare "Back to School, Bookbag and Supplies Giveaway"

For thousands of families in the Central Ohio area, the back to school costs are simply unbearable, with some children having to start school without basic supplies simply because their parents cannot afford the basic necessities to start school. It was these struggling families that several local business owners had in mind when they got together this past Sunday to hand out book bags full of school supplies in hopes it helps this transition back to school easier. Project: Prepared took place at Barnett Recreation Center in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday August 15, 2010, and Fly Paper was there not only to be able to bring this story to you today; but also to lend our hand in giving back to the community that supports us so well. To say this event was a success would be an understatement. To some, this event was a life saver; the only real way parents may have had to help prepare their children for the next year in school. One of the most amazing things about this event was that it was started by four small people with big hearts and big dreams. Project: Prepared was organized by Michael Oliver (Phenology Clothing), Nikisha Zoe Vickers (The Repertoire Collective), Javar Godfrey (Godfrey Athletics), and Barbara Green (Lifesaver Health Care); all of which are local business and organizations based right here out of Columbus. Some of the volunteers to come out and donate their time to give back to the kids were Team Osceola, Krate Digga, Alliance DJ's, Studio Allure Photography, Power 107.5, and FlyPaper; with supplies donated by Staples and additional news coverage provided by 10TV.

What: Beyond Fit 5k "Fight Obesity"
When: Saturday, September 25th@ 9am
Where: Genoa Park
Buckeye Fitness Firm and Godfrey Athletics are collaborating to bring the inaugural Beyond Fit 5K to the communities of Central Ohio. The Purpose of this event is to raise the awareness and decrease the effects of childhood and adult obesity. All proceeds of this event will be going towards programs, such as Godfrey Athletics, to educate our communities on the effects of obesity and ways to combat this epidemic as well. Please feel free to forward this to all that you know that may be interested in participating, weather as a runner, walker, Kids Fun Run, or just to spread the word. All contributions will help this cause no matter how large or small. Thank you for helping combat obesity in Central Ohio, may we all strive to go Beyond Fit!
