Dear Potential Sponsor,

As you are aware, the current economic crisis has impacted the citizens of our great nation in a variety of ways.  The funding for many government programs has been lowered, and many programs have been cut.  In Columbus, youth facilities and recreational centers are being closed.  This has led to a significant number of our children being underserved.

It is imperative for our youth to have community spaces to meet and engage in extracurricular, social, and athletic activities.  According to University of Arizona professors Bonnie L. Barber, Margaret R. Stone, and James E. Hunt, “activities can help adolescents acquire both the educational credentials and cognitive skills needed for adult work roles, acquire the interpersonal skills needed to form healthy social relationships, and refine the emotional and behavioral skills needed to become fully functioning, independent adults.”  In an effort to provide these much needed activities, we have created a program called Godfrey Athletics.   

Godfrey Athletics offers programs created by a team of social workers and community activists that will help kindergarten and elementary students advance their social skills, raise their self esteem, and increase their physical health by providing them with the opportunity to engage in athletics and other social events.  No child will be turned away, and all children will get to participate in year-round  and scrimmages, team-building exercises, and academic activities. 

Many students have expressed interest in our program, but due to economic hardships, they cannot afford to pay the fees that would provide them with the necessary tools to do so.  Rather than turn them away, we are looking for partners to help us meet the needs of these students.  We are hoping that your business will be willing to donate to this terrific cause.   

We are offering advertising space in our brochures, onT-shirts, on Banners and on our website for a donation of $500 or more.  A donation of $500 will be used to sponsor five underprivileged students and provide them with an opportunity that will affect their lives for years to come.  Donations can be made via check payable to Godfrey Athletics
